About this product

Organic Drumstick Pod Powder is made from the pod of Moringa oleifera, the drumstick itself, known as sahjan phalli in Hindi, saragvo ni sing in Gujarati, shevga sheng in Marathi and murungakkai in Tamil. The pods are harvested young, sliced, shade-dried at low temperature and milled whole. Grown, dried and packed on Nisarg Organic Farm in Gujarat, India, with nothing added.

This is pod powder, not leaf powder. If you are looking for the green, grassy powder made from moringa leaves, see our Organic Moringa Leaf Powder.

Key Benefits of Drumstick Pod Powder

  • Naturally high in dietary fibre: the pod is the fibrous part of the moringa plant, which is why it has long been cooked as a vegetable rather than eaten as a green.
  • Good plant source of vitamin C: drumstick pods are notably richer in vitamin C than the leaves.
  • Supports everyday digestion: drumstick is the pod Indian kitchens have added to sambar and dal for generations, traditionally for exactly this reason.
  • Mild, nutty taste: much gentler than leaf powder, with none of the grassy bitterness. Easier for children and for anyone who could not get on with moringa leaf powder.
  • Contains potassium and magnesium: everyday minerals from a whole vegetable, not a synthetic blend.
  • Fits most diets: vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and unsweetened.

How to Use Drumstick Pod Powder

Daily use: 1–2 teaspoons per day. Because it is a vegetable powder rather than a leaf concentrate, it is used more generously than moringa leaf powder.

  • Sambar & dal: 1–2 tsp stirred in while cooking, the classic use, and the taste is authentic because it is the same pod.
  • Curries & sabzi: add with your masala for body and a mild drumstick flavour.
  • Soups: 1 tsp per bowl, stirred in at the end.
  • Chapati & thepla dough: 1 tsp per cup of flour to add fibre to everyday rotis.
  • Warm water: 1 tsp in warm water, if you prefer taking it on its own.

Unlike leaf powder, this pod powder can be cooked. It holds up to normal cooking heat.

Ingredients

100% organic Moringa oleifera pod (drumstick) powder. Single ingredient. No leaf, no stems, no fillers, no added flavour, no preservatives, unirradiated.

Available Sizes

100 g, 200 g, 500 g and 1 kg. At 1 teaspoon a day, a 200 g pouch lasts roughly two months.

Who Is This For

Families who cook drumstick regularly but cannot get fresh pods all year, anyone who wants the fibre and vitamin C of the vegetable in a form that keeps, people who found moringa leaf powder too grassy, and households adding more vegetables to everyday dal and sabzi.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between drumstick pod powder and moringa leaf powder?

Both come from the same tree. The pod powder (this product) is made from the drumstick vegetable. Higher in fibre and vitamin C, mild and nutty, and it can be cooked. The leaf powder is made from the leaves. Higher in iron, calcium and plant protein, grassy in taste, and best not boiled.

What does drumstick pod powder taste like?

Mild, nutty and slightly sweet. Close to the drumstick you already eat in sambar. It does not have the strong grassy note of leaf powder.

Can I use it instead of fresh drumstick?

For flavour and fibre in cooking, yes. For dishes where you chew the pod and scrape the pulp, fresh drumstick is still the better choice.

How much drumstick pod powder per day?

1 to 2 teaspoons daily for adults, usually through food.

Is it safe during pregnancy?

Drumstick pod is eaten as an everyday vegetable in India. Moringa root and bark are not recommended in pregnancy. If you are pregnant or nursing, speak to your doctor before adding any supplement.

Do you ship to the USA and UK?

Yes. We ship worldwide from India, including the USA, UK, Canada, UAE, Australia and Singapore.

Shipping & Storage
