Collection: Organic Holi Colors

About Organic Holi Colors

Organic Holi colours made from turmeric, beetroot, spinach, hibiscus and tesu flowers on a natural arrowroot base. Grown and made on our own farm in Gujarat.

What Is Actually in Market Gulal

Most Holi colour sold in India is industrial dye on a talc or silica base. That is where the skin rashes, eye irritation, hair damage and week-long staining come from.

Green has historically been the worst: copper sulphate, which causes eye irritation and temporary vision problems. The vivid neon shades are exactly the ones you least want on skin.

And all of it washes into rivers and lakes afterwards.

Our Colours and Where They Come From

  • Yellow: turmeric
  • Green: spinach and neem leaf
  • Orange: tesu (palash) flowers, the original Holi colour
  • Pink: beetroot and hibiscus
  • Pack of 4: all four, better value
  • Ganpati Gulal: for visarjan, where it goes straight into the water

Natural Colour Is Softer. That Is the Point

Plant pigment gives warmer, gentler shades than synthetic dye. If you are expecting fluorescent, you will be surprised. What you get instead is colour that comes off with plain water and does not leave anyone itching for a week.

Playing Safely

Oil your skin and hair with coconut oil beforehand. This single step makes washing off far easier. Apply colours to dry skin for the best effect. Full-sleeve cotton clothes, protective eyewear for children, stay hydrated, wash off with plain water.
