Organic Papaya Leaf Powder is one of the few traditional Indian herbs with a genuine body of clinical research behind it. Papaya leaf extract has been studied for its effect on platelet counts, and standardised papaya leaf extract is an approved formulation in India for exactly that purpose.
Studies have also found papaya leaf extract to be well tolerated: daily oral administration in animal studies for 13 weeks produced no significant toxic effect, even at doses many times higher than traditional use.
Read This First – Dengue Is a Medical Emergency
Papaya leaf is best known for its association with dengue and platelet counts. Please be clear on what that means:
Dengue is a serious, potentially fatal illness that requires hospital care. Warning signs including severe abdominal pain, persistent vomiting, bleeding gums, blood in vomit or stool, difficulty breathing, or sudden drops in temperature with weakness need immediate emergency care.
Papaya leaf may be used as supportive nutrition alongside medical treatment, under your doctor's guidance. It is not a cure and it is not a substitute for hospital monitoring. People die of dengue every year in India, and the deaths are concentrated among those who delayed care.
Papaya Leaf Powder Benefits
Platelet support
Papaya leaf contains bioactive compounds including papain, chymopapain and caricain. It has been studied for supporting healthy platelet counts, which is the basis of its traditional use during recovery from viral fevers — used alongside medical care, never instead of it.
Digestion and gut comfort
The enzymes papain and chymopapain support protein digestion and the release of digestive enzymes. Papaya leaf is traditionally used to relieve bloating, acidity and constipation, and to support appetite.

Liver and cholesterol support
Papaya leaf contains phytosterols, which are structurally similar to cholesterol and can help limit intestinal cholesterol absorption. It also contains antioxidants that support the liver against oxidative stress.
Skin
Papaya leaf is rich in antioxidants including saponins, flavonoids, tannins and alkaloids. Applied with the fruit pulp it is traditionally used to unclog pores and reduce excess oil.

Scalp and dandruff
Applied to the scalp, papaya leaf extract helps remove excess oil and buildup at the roots, and is traditionally used for dandruff and an itchy scalp.

How to Make Papaya Leaf Juice at Home
Take 5–10 fresh, tender papaya leaves. Wash them thoroughly under running water 5–6 times. Put them in a juicer or blender and blend to a smooth consistency. Strain through a thin cloth or sieve. Store the fresh juice in a glass bottle and refrigerate.
The traditional amount is 25 ml of papaya leaf juice diluted in water, twice a day — and only with your doctor's knowledge if you are unwell.

Who Should Be Careful
Pregnant women should avoid papaya leaf. Anyone on blood thinners, or with a bleeding disorder, should consult a doctor before use.
