Organic Gir Cow Ghee is pure A2 desi ghee made from the milk of indigenous Gir cows raised on Nisarg Organic Farm in Gujarat, India. Gir is one of India's original humped (Bos indicus) breeds, and their milk carries the A2 beta-casein protein rather than the A1 protein found in most commercial crossbred dairy. Slow-cooked in small batches, it has the deep golden colour, grainy texture and nutty aroma that mass-produced ghee never develops.
What Makes A2 Gir Cow Ghee Different
A2 milk from indigenous Gir cows — not crossbred or imported-breed dairy.
Grass-fed & free-grazing — our cows graze on organically managed land, no growth hormones.
Traditional slow-cook method — cultured, churned and simmered in small batches, not centrifuge-separated at industrial scale.
Naturally lactose & casein free — the milk solids are removed during clarification, so most lactose-sensitive people tolerate ghee well.
High smoke point (~250°C / 480°F) — genuinely suitable for high-heat Indian cooking, tadka and deep frying.
Source of vitamins A, D, E and K2 and naturally occurring butyrate.
How to Use Gir Cow Ghee
Cooking: tadka for dal, roasting spices, sautéing vegetables, deep frying — it does not oxidise like refined seed oils.
Everyday food: a spoon on hot roti, rice, khichdi or dal.
In drinks: ½ tsp in warm milk at night, or in coffee.
Ayurvedic use: used in Abhyanga (self-massage), nasya, and as an anupana (carrier) for herbal powders.
Baking: replaces butter 1:1 in most recipes.
Ingredients
100% A2 Gir cow milk butterfat. Nothing else — no vegetable oil blending, no palm oil, no preservatives, no artificial colour or flavour.
Pack Size
1 kg jar. Ghee is shelf-stable and does not need refrigeration.
Who Is This For
Families who cook Indian food daily, people avoiding refined seed oils, A1-protein-sensitive households, Ayurveda practitioners, and Indian families abroad who cannot find real desi ghee locally.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is A2 ghee and why does it matter?
A2 refers to the type of beta-casein protein in the milk. Indigenous Indian breeds like Gir produce A2 milk; most modern high-yield crossbreeds produce A1. Many people report A2 dairy sits easier on the stomach.
Is ghee safe if I am lactose intolerant?
Ghee is clarified — the milk solids containing lactose and casein are removed during cooking. Most lactose-intolerant people tolerate it, but if you are severely allergic to dairy, consult your doctor.
Does ghee need to be refrigerated?
No. Store at room temperature in a dry cupboard. Always use a clean, dry spoon — water is the only thing that spoils ghee.
Why is my ghee grainy or partly solid?
Graininess is a sign of genuine slow-cooked ghee, not a defect. Ghee also naturally changes texture with room temperature — liquid in Indian summers, semi-solid in winter or in a cold climate.
How long does it last?
12 months unopened. Once opened, keep it dry and clean and it will comfortably last 6–9 months.
Do you ship ghee to the USA?
Yes, we ship worldwide from India including the USA, UK, Canada, UAE, Australia and Singapore.
