About this product
Organic Sabja Seeds are the black seeds of sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum), also called tukmaria or falooda seeds. Soaked in water they swell within minutes into a translucent jelly, which is exactly why they have been India's summer cooling seed for generations.
Key Benefits
- Naturally cooling: the classic Indian remedy for summer heat, used in falooda and nimbu paani.
- Supports digestion: high in soluble fibre, traditionally used for acidity and constipation.
- Keeps you full: the gel expands in the stomach, which helps with portion control.
- Supports steady blood sugar: the fibre slows sugar absorption after meals.
- Supports hydration: the soaked seeds hold water, useful in hot weather.
- Plant minerals: calcium, magnesium and iron.
Always Soak First
Never eat sabja seeds dry. They swell rapidly on contact with moisture and are a genuine choking risk, particularly for children. Soak in water for at least 15 minutes until fully gelled.
How to Use
- Nimbu paani: 1 teaspoon soaked, added to lemon water, the traditional summer drink.
- Falooda: the classic use, with rose syrup and milk.
- Coconut water or buttermilk: especially cooling.
- Smoothies and curd: stir in after soaking.
- Before meals: a soaked teaspoon in water 20 minutes before eating, for fullness.

Frequently Asked Questions
Sabja or chia. Which is better?
Neither. Sabja is more cooling and swells faster; chia has more omega-3. Use sabja for summer drinks, chia for pudding and omega-3.
How long do they take to soak?
15 minutes is enough. They will keep absorbing for up to an hour.
Do they help during periods?
They reduce bloating and support digestion, which is where most of the reported comfort comes from.
Can pregnant women take them?
Consult your doctor before regular use during pregnancy.
Any side effects?
Too much at once causes bloating, because of the fibre. One to two teaspoons daily is plenty.
Do you ship to the USA and UK?
Yes: worldwide from India including USA, UK, Canada, UAE, Australia and Singapore.
