Payment & Currency
We accept PayPal as well as international credit and debit cards. PayPal is usually the easiest option for customers outside India.
All prices on this website are shown in Indian Rupees (INR / ₹), including for international orders. Whichever payment method you choose, PayPal or your bank converts the amount into your local currency at their prevailing exchange rate, and that converted amount is what appears on your statement. Your bank may also apply a foreign transaction fee. This is charged by them, not by us.

Food, Herbal & Agricultural Product Restrictions

Tracking Your Order
Once your parcel is dispatched, you will receive an email with your DHL Express tracking number. You can track your shipment door-to-door on the DHL website at any time.
Packaging
International orders are packed for long-haul transit, sealed, cushioned and protected against moisture. Liquids such as ghee, honey and syrups receive additional leak-proof packing.
Damaged or Missing Shipments
If your order arrives damaged, please contact us within 24 hours of delivery with your order number, photographs of the product and photographs of the outer packaging. Our full terms are set out in our Refund Policy and Shipping Policy.

Organic Sugandhi Ubtan Powder (सुगंधी उटणे) is the fragrant herbal body scrub used in the Diwali Abhyanga Snan ritual. And, increasingly, as a year-round natural alternative to soap. Sandalwood, rose petals, orange peel, kasturi haldi, neem and besan, blended the traditional way.
The Ritual
On Narak Chaturdashi, families wake before sunrise, apply ubtan, and take the ritual bath. In many homes the smell of sugandhi utane is Diwali morning. But the ritual exists for a practical reason too: it exfoliates, cleanses and leaves skin genuinely soft.
What Is In It
- Sandalwood: cooling and the source of the fragrance
- Rose petal powder: softens and soothes
- Multani mitti: deep cleanses and lifts impurities
- Kasturi haldi: brightening, non-staining
- Orange peel: refreshing, supports tone
- Neem: traditionally used for clear skin
- Besan and kaolin clay: gentle exfoliation
- Nagar mutha, kapoor kachri: traditional aromatics
How to Use
Mix with rose water, milk or plain water depending on your skin. Milk for dry, rose water for oily. Apply to damp skin, leave a few minutes, then massage off in gentle circular motions and rinse with warm water.
Traditional Abhyanga method: oil the body first with sesame or coconut oil, then apply ubtan over the oil and massage off. This is what makes the skin feel different afterwards, the oil nourishes, the ubtan lifts.
Use once or twice a week year-round, or as part of the Diwali ritual.
Available Sizes
50 g, 100 g, 200 g, 500 g and 1 kg. The 50 g is ideal for trying it or for gifting.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is ubtan only for Diwali?
No. That is just its best-known use. It works year-round as a weekly body scrub and face pack.
Can I use it on my face?
Yes, gently. Use less pressure than on the body.
Will the turmeric stain?
No. We use kasturi haldi, the non-staining cosmetic variety.
Is it suitable for babies?
For infants use our gentler Organic Baby Bath Ubtan instead.
Can men use it?
Yes, the Abhyanga ritual is traditionally for the whole household.
